Mrs. Ann Rutkoski
Parish Librarian

In January, 1990, ground was broken for the Parish Center, an addition to the existing St. Ignatius
Loyola School.  Included in the plans was a parish library which would have books, magazines, and
audio-visual materials for adults as well as the children attending the school or CCD programs.  For
me personally, the timing was perfect as I had just completed the Masters program for Library
Science at Villanova University.  However, my arrival at this position had undergone some detours
along the way.

My journey began in Fond ju Lac, WI, where I attended St. Joseph's Elementary School and St.
Mary's Springs Academy.  Following graduation, I entered the diploma nursing program at St.
Agnes Hospital, also in Fond du Lac.  A year after graduation I moved to Denver, CO where I
worked at the University Hospital for three years and an inner-city public health clinic for seven
years.  During this time I received my Bachelor's degree in nursing from Metropolitan State College
in Denver.  My husband, Eugene, and I were married and Denver, and then his work brought us to
Reading.  We had a 4-year sojourn in northern Louisiana before returning to Reading.  We have
three children - Jennifer, Thomas and Sarah.  When the children were in elementary school, I
returned to the classroom to begin my library studies.

The parish library opened in 1992.  It has been a wonderful experience for me.  I look at my work as
a mission rather than a job.  My goal is to find the right book(s) to meet the needs of the
parishioners.
