Rev. Paul L. Rothermel
Associate Pastor

Father Paul L. Rothermel is a happy convert to the Catholic Faith, having experienced a pious
Protestant upbringing in the Reformed Church of the Pennsylvania Dutch.  He graduated from the
Moody Bible Institute of Chicago with a diploma in Pastoral Training with a Greek Emphasis.
Shortly thereafter, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Elizabethtown
College, where he was known for his zeal as an evangelical Christian, active in the Inter-Varsity
Christian Fellowship.  In 1982, Paul completed his preparations for Protestant ministry, graduating
from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with a Master of Arts degree (summa cum laude) in New
Testament Studies.  That same year, after much study and prayer, against the ardent desires and
strong advice of his friends and relatives, he officially converted to the Catholic Faith.  After taking
some time to find his way within the unique world of the Roman Catholic Church, he set his focus
on the priesthood and went on to earn two more seminary degrees: a Master of Divinity degree
and a Master of Theology degree, both from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia.  He
was ordained to the priesthood in 1994.

Currently, Father Paul is into his second year as Associate Pastor at St. Ignatius after serving
various parishes in the Diocese.  For some years, he has been helping to establish and guide an
apologetics club (the Truth-in-Religion Group) in the Diocese.
