| following the 12 Noon Mass on Sunday, November 22nd and will conclude with the Solemn Procession and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Tuesday, November 24th. Devotions each evening will begin at 7:30PM. The Forty Hours Devotion recalls the forty hours Jesus spent in the tomb. It is a devotion established to promote peace. Peace is needed in our world, in our community, in our family, in our home, and it begins in each one of us! Our guest homilist each evening will be Rev. Eugene P. Ritz, Associate Pastor of St. Catharine of Siena in Reading, and former Deacon here at St. Ignatius. The theme for Father Ritz's talks will be on Uncovering the presence of Christ in our lives - specifically in the Eucharist - and what that will mean for us: Sunday - Jesus came and stood in their midst. - John 20:19-31 Monday - For as often as you the bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord. - 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 Tuesday - Jesus loved them until the end. - John 13:1-15 May we continue our tradition of giving honor and glory to Our Lord present in the Eucharist. The 2009 First Communion Class, visiting clergy, along with the Special Ministers of the Eucharist and Altar Servers, will have a special place of honor in the procession on Tuesday evening. (A free-will offering will be taken on Tuesday evening - an envelope was included in the November packet.) Our Forty Hours Devotions affords each of us the opportunity to spend time in the presence of Our Lord. Our Church is open each day, all day, following the 8AM Mass, through evening devotions. We invite everyone to come to the evening services, but if that is not possible, make the effort to stop in for some quiet, peaceful meditation time. Parents are encouraged to bring the little ones for a visit to Jesus during the course of the day. It is a time of many graces for our parish community. |
