PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

Our middle daughter, Kristina, celebrated her First Eucharist this past May.  As we were readying ourselves for this blessed
occasion, I recalled the memory of my own First Communion and how my mother was brushing my curls with tears in her eyes,
while apologizing in advance for having to miss this special day.  For the first time, while brushing my own daughter’s curls, I truly
realized and understood my mother’s anguish of not being able to be by my side almost 40 years ago.  I was experiencing the heart
ache that my mother must have felt having to decide between either staying home with my sick, 10 month-old youngest brother or
attending this once in a lifetime blessed event.  The alternative of me not going to my First Eucharist was unthinkable.  She would
not have me miss or be late for this date, so off she sent me with my father, while staying behind with all four of my siblings.  It was
the kind of anguish one can only feel when one loves someone else more than themselves.
I’m certain that as we approach Thanksgiving, we are readying ourselves to celebrate one of our more treasured traditions with
family and friends.  In addition to the usual prayers and best wishes of health, food, shelter, and so forth, I plan to remember to give
thanks to our parents and mentors who have gone to great lengths to point us in the right direction so that we could grow stronger in
our faith.  Even when it wasn’t the most popular or ‘coolest’ thing to do, we were given the knowledge and sacraments that we are
so free to enjoy for the rest of our lives.  Now it is our turn to continue with this tradition of molding the next generation of Catholics.
Honoring Our Most Blessed Mother, Alba

Thank You!
Our parish has a tradition of celebrating our military men and women with a special Mass on the day after Veterans Day is
observed.  Afterwards, we gather in the Parish Hall to enjoy the refreshments that many of you are so kind to supply.  Whether you
baked them or not, all goodies were much appreciated this past Nov 12th.  Thank you for showing your support to these very
deserving groups of Americans.

Happy 25th Anniversary of Excellence
as our Pastor and Spiritual Leader!
In the afternoon of September 28th, our Parish came together to celebrate Monsignor’s 25 years of outstanding service to our
Parish community.
The Women’s Society of St. Ignatius was honored
to participate, to contribute in the festivities, and to pledge our support to
the Rev. Msgr. James A. Treston Educational Scholarship Fund
May God continue to bless us!

In the past, when other clergy and staff members have celebrated similar milestones, our dear Women’s Society member and
parishioner for 34 years, Guia Lipawen, prepared and presented Monsignor with a personalized, framed anagram.  We have
included it here for your viewing.

  A Tribute to our beloved Pastor of 25 years . . .
Memorable date of August 16, 1983 marked a new era in our parish history.
On that summer day our St.Ignatius Loyola parish welcomed a new pastor from Mahanoy City.
Noteworthy is the parish renewed spirit as Msgr. James A. Treston began his pastorship zealously.
Stewardship of God’s gifts sustains the life of a parish a hundredfold, our pastor said humbly.
It is in tithing our wealth and in sharing our talents, he added, that we truly live the Christian way.
God has blessed us with a pastor who knows how to make us feel in a very special way.
Nurturing love and compassion, our pastor has shared our joys and sorrows along the way.
Over the 25 years that he has cared for us, he remarkably remembers and calls us by name respectively.
Respect and affection within and beyond our parish, our beloved pastor has gained continuously.

Joyfully we thank him for a pastorship that stood firm through good and bad times for 25 years.
A surprise gathering today in his honor is to celebrate his being a truly good shepherd all these years.
More than just a celebration, it is to start in our pastor’s name a Scholarship Fund for the coming years.
Educating deserving students through financial aid from the Fund is a fitting gift for a pastor of 25 years.
So donations to Msgr.James A.Treston Scholarship Fund are a gift that will keep on giving for many years.

Associate pastors who have been under him do appreciate the wisdom they learned from him.
Nuns who have taught at St. Ignatius Loyola School are also thankful for being enlightened by him.
During the 25 years, the school staffs have been grateful for his support and presence in school programs.
RCIA and CCD enrollments that are increasing steadily are testimonials of our pastor’s well run programs.
Extending his long range commitment, he is our beloved pastor for the right reasons and for all seasons.
With him, we pray, sing, laugh, weep, exchange ideas and jokes, watch baseball, travel, and dine and so on.

Thanks to his pastorship, our St. Ignatius Loyola parish is vibrant and very much alive in action.
Renovations at church and school expansions were all possible under his projection and supervision.
Exemplary leadership he developed when he earned his Monsignor title in BSA Eagle Scouting.
Stewardship Fair of our parish organizations, is a project of our pastor that every year is growing.
Throughout   the year our pastor avails himself as much as possible to various organizations functions.
Onward with him to more years of spiritual growth: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication.
No other pastor has given our St. Ignatius Loyola parish so much affection and devotion.

Prayerful Thanks
As I hurried to work, feelings of frustration overcame me while I tailgated the slow-moving vehicle in front of me, hoping to make
that car accelerate so that I would not be late for work. Rising five minutes earlier would eliminate this stress, but it was easy to
blame the car in front of me for this ordeal. Thinking about “why pokey people always seem to be driving in front of me”, I was
nudged by my Guardian Angel to envision that car as God’s way of setting up a protective barrier, shielding me from the possible
danger zones that lie ahead. Thankful for God’s security, I continued my journey to work, and arrived on time.
God’s providence abounds in the mundane and burdensome events of our lives; pray during these times, giving thanks for these
“blessings”. As the laundry piles up, the cell phone rings, or the turkey seems to be taking its time in the oven, why not take this
season of thanks to react appreciatively and to be prayerfully grateful for the “ordinary” occurrences that shape God’s love for us?
In Jesus’ Love, Have a Blessed Day!
